The Washington County Fairgrounds has some new trees thanks to a grant provided by Alliant Utilities.  The $4000 grant was given by Trees Forever whose goal is “to plant and care for trees and the environment by empowering people, building community and promoting stewardship.”

Members of the Washington Tree Committee and Washington County Fair Board joined together to plant 72 trees this month.  Washington Tree Committee chairperson Marde McConnell says this project happened because of volunteers and in-kind donations made.

She adds the new trees will be another addition to the many recent improvements made at the fairgrounds.
