High school seniors wishing to pursue a major in journalism or education are encouraged to apply for a scholarship.  Amy Green with the Washington County Extension says applications are now being accepted for the Donna Manfull 209 Scholarship for High School Journalism Excellence.  Green says application forms are available at the Washington High School counselor’s office.

The scholarship applications are due to the guidance office by April 27th.  To apply, complete the application form which can be picked up at the Washington High School counselor’s office and write a 500 word essay on ONE of the following three topics:

1) Which teacher has had the biggest impact on you, and what lessons have you learned from that individual will help you succeed in your next chapter of life?

2) If you are planning on going into education, what will your specialty be? Why are you choosing to go into the education field and what life lessons do you feel are essential to teach in the classroom?

3) If you will be studying journalism, what are your goals as a journalist? Where would you like to work, what would you like to cover and why?
