Three area students have been awarded one-thousand dollar scholarships from the Alliant Energy Foundation.  Katherine McCall of West Chester and Magdalene Van Roekel of Wellman who both attend Mid-Prairie High School and Seth Swearingen from Sigourney High School are part of twenty five students receiving the community service based scholarships.

All of the scholarships awarded are being given to graduating seniors.  Some of the contributing factors toward these scholarships are leadership experience, community service or volunteer activities.  The content of a 300 word essay is taken into consideration as well when selecting the winners.
