Last weekend’s storms in Keokuk County caused prom activities in one school district to end early.Pekin High School Principal Nathan Wood says the school lost power Saturday evening during prom festivities and the students had to practice their storm drill procedures.  He says because the evening ended early, they were not able to do all of the activities as planned.

Principal Wood says they will be holding “Prom Part 2” Friday evening where the students will still be able to dress up and take part in the activities sponsored by the various businesses in the area.  He notes this was his first prom at Pekin and one that will not be forgotten.

Principal Wood adds some students have presented the idea about helping clean up in the Hedrick area as well.  He says they are considering that option for the kids at school.  The Pekin “Prom Part 2” will be held from 7:00 to 10:00 Friday evening.
