The unemployment figures have been released for March by the Iowa Workforce Development and Washington County’s rate dropped from February. The current rate in the County is at 5.1%. Washington County has over 11,000 people in the workforce. Across all of southeast Iowa, unemployment rates dropped almost half of a percent.
The largest decrease was in Iowa County which dropped a full percentage point while Johnson County saw a small increase one-tenth of a percent. Overall, Iowa’s unemployment dropped to five point two percent, remaining three percent lower than the national figure.
