As previously reported on KCII, residents of Washington need to be on alert of a scam.  City Clerk Illa Earnest says the city has received numerous reports from residents of phone calls about service for water lines. Earnest says the city repairs any problems from the main to the curb box or with the meter.

She adds the property owner is responsible for any work on the rest of the line.  Earnest says the calls asking for insurance to cover the cost of the line is a scam and warns all residents to ignore the phone calls.  To see more information, look at this story on kciiradio.com and contact Washington City Hall with any further questions.

Scam called ID is (712) 560-0167 – registered to Fingerhut.
