A high school student from Wellman has received a second scholarship toward their studies in an agricultural-related major.  Sarah Altenhofen has been chosen to receive the 2012 Dean Gerot Memorial Conservation Scholarship valued at $1000.  Teresa Munn with the Soil and Water Conservation District says these are annual scholarships given to Iowa High School seniors that will be used for their first year of college education.

Altenhofen’s scholarship application has also been forwarded to the Soil and Water Conservation District’s regional competition.  Earlier this week she was one of ten recipients to be awarded a $1500 scholarship by the Iowa Soybean Association.  Altenhofen plans to get a degree in agriculture engineering at Iowa State University.
