The Washington Demon baseball team takes on Iowa City Regina tonight. The Demons are 3-1 going into the outing while Regina is 4-1.

The Demons have won their last three games in a row by five runs or more, while Regina has scored 17 in one game in the last three.

Head coach of the Demons Nathan Miller said it is about throwing strikes and making routine plays.

“We’ve got to throw strikes, we have to keep hitters off balance,” Miller said. “Strike one is the most important pitch in every at bat, getting ahead on the batter, and from there continually communicating and making routine plays.”

The Demon’s team batting average is a .307, have 23 RBI’s and their pitchers have a combined ERA of 1.96. Washington will start Jared Henry in game one, Henry is 0-1 with a 4.20 ERA and one strike out, in game two the Demons will have Chris Wheeler on the mound, Wheeler is 1-0, has pitched five innings has a 0 ERA and held opponents to a 0.095 batting average.

Regina has a team batting average of .230, 24 RBI’s and team ERA 2.80 with 36 strikeouts.

Miller says Regina has good tradition and great pitching, but that is what he wants for his team, so they can they be challenged and learn their own strike zones
