The City of Washington is reminding property owners of their grass and weed ordinance now that spring has arrived.  Steve Donnelly with Building and Zoning for the City of Washington says the maximum height of grass and/or weeds allowed in the city is eight inches on all residential and commercial properties.

He says tall grass, weeds, non-ornamental vines, brush and other growth are considered a nuisance.  Donnelly adds these nuisances are subject to the city’s nuisance abatement process.

He says the city encourages property owners to keep their grass, weeds, and other growth trimmed.  To see the full city ordinance, contact Washington City Hall.
