The Washington boy’s golf team got their redemption after winning the Southeast Iowa conference golf meet in Keokuk last night. The Demons shot 310, two strokes in front of runner-up Fairfield, and also had a medalist in Alex Thode, who shot a 73.

Head Coach Mark Berhow says he is excited for Thode, and that the only team shot very well.

“We played very well as a team,” Berhow says. “Anytime your sixth man is an 83 that is a great, great opportunity to be the top one, two in any meet.”

Berhow added that to keep his team focused his motto for the team was to play the next shot.

“We really talk about every stroke counts,” Berhow says, “Winning by two is in a meet like this is a huge confidence builder. But it’s just that idea of the mental preparation.”

The Washington boys will play next on Friday, when they host the Regional meet at the Washington Country Club.
