Demon Softball ready for the Blood Hounds

The Washington softball team returns home tonight after a soggy win last night in Pella. The Demons played Pella Christian in a game after hard rain hit the area, and came out with one win in a double header that didn’t double.
The Demons scored quick with three runs put up in the first inning, and that was much of the story in the Demons victory. Head coach Angie Shrader says that she was happy with the offense scoring in every inning until the game was shortened in the 11-0 win, and that pitcher Ashley Rausch threw well.
The Demons travel home tonight to take on Ft. Madison in the first game of Southeast Iowa conference play. Shrader had this to say about the Blood Hounds.
“They don’t give up in an inning, and a lot of times in the past if a team gets two outs in an inning and something happens and they let it snow ball, they will rally and get two or three runs,” Shrader said. “We need to make sure that we finish every inning and play to every out and not let up, because they will take it if they can get it.”
Shrader added that since it is a conference game, her girls tend to get more worked up about winning and less focused, which is something she made a point of talking to them about. The Demons have won by the 10 run rule in each of their games so far, but Shrader says her team is still changing.
Maddie Bohr is scheduled to start the first game for the Demons tonight, and Rausch the second game. You can catch the second game live at KCII with pregame at 7:15 and first pitch at 7:30 on our live stream under radio plus and at AM and FM KCII.
