The Washington Demons golf team qualified for the state tournament last night shooting a 325, three strokes behind Williamsburg who shot a 322. The Demons were led by Dillon de Perrot who shot a 75. Head coach Mark Berhow said this about Dillon.

“Yeah Dillon has played fantastic golf in the last two meets for us and even throughout the season he has only struggled a couple of times,” Berhow said. “His overall performance is one that he has grown a lot this year and confidence in his game, and I couldn’t be more happy for him.”

Alex Thode and Brock Kimball both shot 84’s to help with the scoring, while finished in second on the team after high jumping at the state track meet and making it back to the golf meet to shoot an 82. Berhow said it is awesome for him to be able to do that.

The Demons will not go to Ames golf and country club for a two day state meet next week. Berhow said this about his strategy.

“The key is just going to be managing the course, there are a number of holes that is position golf,” Berhow said. “It is a score-able course, it is not an extremely challenging course in that sense, if you get into trouble there are ways to get out, but it’s just a way of saying is this a hole I need to go for birdie or say nope par or birdie is a good score.”
