Southeast Iowa anglers will have a chance again this year to fish without having to face a penalty. Chad Dolan, Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Biologist says the free fishing days allows all Iowa residents to fish without having to buy a license. He says this free fishing is open to all open waters of the state or private pond.
Dolan adds all other fishing regulations such as size and bag limits are still in place. This free weekend is offered in June because fish are usually close to shore and are willing to bite.
The free fishing weekend will run Friday through Sunday and for more information about the free fishing weekend, look at the Iowa Department of Natural Resources website.
