A candidate’s forum was held last night in Kalona. The Meet the Candidates forum held at the Kalona Community Center gave candidates running for state legislature in Des Moines and for Washington County Supervisor a chance to introduce themselves and voice their opinion on a number of topics.  Some of the main focuses of the night was county zoning and the Regional Utility Sewer System.

On the legislature side of things State Representative Jarad Klein was in attendance to discuss issues from the public. A total of nine candidates came out for the forum, two for district 2, three for District 4, two for District 1, and one for House District 78, while the auditor was uncontested. The forum started at 7pm and ended around 9:30.
