The latest rankings from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union have been released and the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks find themselves among the state’s top 15 for the first time in program history. The Mid-Prairie girls soccer program began in 2003 and has seen increasing success over its first nine seasons but this is the first time Mid-Prairie will be playing as a ranked squad. The Golden Hawks broke into the top 15 as part of their current three game winning streak. Mid-Prairie defeated Fairfield on Tuesday night by an 8-1 score behind four goals from Meghan Redlinger. Golden Hawk Freshman stand out Ali Riggan, who is sixth in the state in all classes in scoring with 18 goals through the teams first ten games, talked about what the ranking means to her and the success of the program saying “I’m glad that our team has been working really well together and could give the school recognition”. The #14 ranked Golden Hawks will be in action Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic.
