A new law has been passed recently to help the many men and women who help to keep us safe everyday.  Governor Terry Branstad signed into law last week Senate File 2322 which allows a $50 tax credit to every volunteer firefighter or EMS worker in the state.

Volunteer firefighter Steve Davis from Crawfordsville says this is a good thing to have because all of the time is donated and the schooling that is involved.

He says he hasn’t seen what is involved yet in terms of the actual credit, but is confident tax preparers will be ready for the new law.  The new law will take effect in the year 2013.
