The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is reminding everyone about the recommendations for firewood in the state.  Park Ranger Bob Bellmer from Marr Park says all packaged firewood offered for sale in Iowa must show the place of harvest by both county and state.  These regulations were put in place mainly because of the emerald ash borer.

Bellmer says the bug spreads through the movement of firewood.  This rule is in place to hopefully stop the spread of the insect by stopping the movement of firewood from county to county and state to state.  These new regulations went into affect January 1st of last year.
