As previously reported by KCII, on March 17th the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received reports of possible human remains found on Old Highway 34. The remains were found by two children riding bicycles in the area. The remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office where they were examined by a forensic anthropologist.  The female remains have now been identified as that of a missing Mt. Pleasant woman.

While no scientific identification has been made, the Department of Criminal Investigation believes the remains belong to 24 year old Jackie Douthart based off anthropologist’s findings and the identification of personal items by family members.

The remains will continue to be analyzed through scientific DNA tests and once testing is complete, the remains will be released for proper burial.  Douthart was reported missing by family members and her fiancé on May 22nd of last year.
