Following a threatening phone call the Riverside City Clerk received last week, there will be panic buttons installed in city hall. The decision was made at Monday nights City Council meeting. The question raised was how the city should go forward after receiving the phone call.

The phone call was from a resident who became upset when he was told his requests could not be fulfilled. He repeatedly called the City Clerk using profanity. After a discussion turned into a debate, Mayor Poch called for a vote on whether to install panic buttons or to contact security companies to see if panic buttons were the best option.

The vote was 3-2 in favor of installing the panic buttons. More discussion on the matter will occur at the next council meeting.
