The deadline is today for women of Washington County who have been out of high school for at least one year to apply for a scholarship.  Millie Younquist with the American Association of University Women says they are offering a $1000 scholarship to those who have a need for financial assistance in order to improve their marketable skills.  She adds you can be enrolled in a college or vocational school, or have plans to enroll in the near future.

Youngquist shares the scholarship will be applied toward tuition costs at any accredited institution.  Those applying need to complete the application form, write a short paper, provide a copy of their transcripts and furnish three references.

The application deadline is today and can be found at the Washington Public Library, Wellman-Scofield Public Library, Kalona Public Library, Kirkwood Learning Center in Washington.  They need to be sent to Millie Youngquist, 831 South 13th Avenue, Washington.
