The Washington Demon boy’s golf team dropped into sixth place at the State tournament this weekend.
The Demons were in fifth after day one, but put a few more strokes on the board and Pella who had a big moving day took the fifth spot.
The winner was Decorah with 608 strokes shooting double 308’s in the tournament. The Demons shot a 664 after a 328 on the first day, their second day score was a 335.
Head coach Mark Berhow said his team hit the goal of the top goal of being in the top five after day one, but then they struggled with different things in day two, but should be proud with being the sixth best team in the state.
Alex Thode was the leading scorer for the Demons shooting a double 78’s for a 156 placing him eighth overall at the tournament. Second on the team was Dillon de Perrot and Brock Kimball who both shot 167’s, Ryan Waite shot a 176 to round out the scoring for the Demons. Jake Redlinger and Connor Davey both ended up out of the scoring group with a 177 and 178 respectively.
Berhow said that he will miss his seniors, Thode, Kimball and Redlinger, and that they were all three great role models detailing what golfers should be in high school, and that they would all be hard to replace.
