Severe weather in southeast Iowa left downed trees, broken buildings and debris in Washington and Henry county and volunteers have been out helping to clean up and pick up to get back to normal. Wayland Fire Chief Mike Shepherd says that the Wayland Fire Department with the help of the WACO school district and other groups and volunteers accomplished a lot today but there is still more work to be done. The Wayland Fire Department is organizing a group calling for anyone who is interested in helping with the clean up to report to the Wayland Fire Station tomorrow morning at 8AM. Shepherd says tasks include general clean up and volunteers should bring work gloves, clothes and boots to participate. If you have any questions please contact the Wayland Fire Department at 319-256-3281.
