A weight limit has been put on a bridge in Washington County.  According to County Engineer Jacob Thorius the bridge about half of a mile west of Juniper Avenue on 190th Street has a weight limit placed on it after routine bridge inspection was conducted.

The bridge now has a 20 or 30 ton limit depending on the vehicle configuration.  Thorius says this bridge is on the county’s list to be posted or replaced.  He says this limit posting is to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

Thorius says the bridge is scheduled to be replaced in fiscal year 2014 but he notes the county is looking at options to see if the bridge can be replaced sooner.  If anyone needs more information regarding the weight restriction, contact the Washington County Engineer’s office.
