A participant in last Friday night’s CJ Speedway races was killed after a part on his vehicle broke.

Brian Tipps with the race track says that the part breaking resulted in a collision that took 48 year old Tim Sands’ life. He adds that everything happened so quickly there was nothing for the other drivers to do.

According to Tipps, CJ Speedway and Sands family are in the process of arranging a memorial.
