The deadline for eligible farm owners to apply for the 2012 Century and Heritage Farm Program is today. A Century Farm is for a family that has owned their farm for 100 years and a Heritage Farm is one that has been owned for 150 years. A ceremony recognizing this year’s Century and Heritage Farms will be held during the Iowa State Fair.

Almost 200 Century Farms have been recognized in Washington County since this program first started in 1976. Farm families interested in participating in the Century or Heritage Farm Program needs to have their application postmarked no later than today.
