Washington High School students have a chance to earn college credit while still in high school starting in the fall.  Washington Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says they are offering college credit classes to be taught with Kirkwood Community College.  He says this only happens if it is a class that is not normally taught and if there is a demand of at least 10 for the class.

Dr. Jorgensen says a high school teacher will be teaching that class for one quarter in a school year.  The curriculum is provided by Kirkwood and the school district pays for the class which in turn the state reimburses the school district.

Students wanting to take part need to have already taken the ACT or Compass Exam.  Dr. Jorgensen says offering these classes create a win‑win situation for everybody.  Here is the list of College Courses [1].
