Washington County is getting ready to receive funds from the state of Iowa. As previously reported on KCII, the Board of Supervisors approved a cost allocation plan from the Department of Human Services. The plan which was conducted by Cost Advisory Services in Adel shows indirect expenses the county incurred of more than $118,000.
County Auditor Dan Widmer says these are costs that happen at the local DHS office. He adds this plan occurs every year. The amount being refunded this year is a little over $40,000, which Widmer notes is about 34 percent of the total claims reimbursed.
He says the amount the county is receiving is about $5000 less than last year and almost $20,000 less than the year before. He says the refund to the county will be paid on a quarterly basis in the next fiscal year and is put into the DHS line item in the budget.
