The Demon’s baseball team split the doubleheader with Ft. Madison last night. Washington won the first game 10-3, and then dropped the second one 7-4.

Washington’s pitching was the story for both games, as they only allowed two hits in the first game, but in the second game it was another big middle inning that included four walked batters and a couple errors that gave the Bloodhounds the lead.

Head coach Nathan Miller says looking at, and dissecting the middle inning issues is not what the teams needs.

“It’s just the same thing we’re working through, I’m not going to keep discussing about fourth and fifth innings because that ‘s the only way we can get by it,” Miller said. “We talked about it last night, we can’t go into the middle innings thinking or wondering that something or this is when the big inning is going to happen for the other team. We’re just going to stick with what we’re doing, and I’m going to keep answering the same way, [we’re just] plugging away.”

The Demons went 2-1 on the week.

Tonight’s game against West Branch has been canceled with no make up date.
