Demons and Chiefs Face Off in State Ranked Softball Battle

The No. 10 Washington softball team plays a big Southeast Iowa Conference doubleheader tonight against No. 11 Keokuk. The Demons are in second place in the conference, one behind Fairfield, and split with Keokuk in their last meeting.

For Washington to have a chance at winning a conference title, they will need to win tonight’s games and hope for Keokuk to sweep over Fairfield later this week.

The Demons are back to their winning ways after hitting a mini slump last week. They went to a tournament in Muscatine and beat 5A Davenport Central 8-4 and No. 10 ranked in 5A Davenport West 4-3. The Demons came back out on Saturday and beat No.2 ranked in 5A Muscatine 4-3 and beat L-M 17-0.

Keokuk is 3-2 in their last five, and 18-10 overall while hitting .327. Their pitching staff has a combined ERA of 2.44, but teams are hitting .267 off of them.

The Demons are still hitting over .420 and are now slugging just under .600 for the season. Their pitching staff of Ashley Rausch and Maddie Bohr have a combined ERA of 2.10, 163 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .196.
