The Lone Tree Lions got back to their winning ways last night against WACO.

Lone Tree went up 6-0 throughout the game, up until the sixth inning when WACO made a big push and came within one of tying. WACO’s defense then shut down the Lone Tree Offense and had their chance in the bottom of the Seventh to come out and complete the comeback, but Avery Edwards struck out the last batter to notch the win.

Lone Tree head coach Tom Dickey says his team has been having middle inning trouble, and after four straight losses it isn’t physical or mental errors.

“I’m thinking right now, since we haven’t been winning games it is probably a confidence issue more than anything, we’re not going out there and doing the thing that we need to do to stay in the game or close the game out,” Dickey said. “I believe it is a confidence issue more than anything.”

Lone Tree continues their marathon week tonight with a a game against Mediapolis. Dickey says he would like to win this game because he is tired of his team’s conference season being spoiled.

“We’ve had several teams come in and spoil our season over the last week, maybe not our season but our chance to be in the conference title race,” Dickey said. “I think it’s our time to spoil someone else fun, and hopefully we can do that against Mediapolis tonight.”
