The No. 10 Demon Softball team travels to West Branch tonight for a single game. The Demons are 13-2 and are on a eight game winning streak.

Washington continues to pound the softball with a .446 batting average as a team, eight home runs, 10 triples and 143 runs scored in 15 games.

The pitching staff is also pulling their weight with a combined ERA of their starting pitchers Ashley Rausch and Maddie Bohr, of 2.41 with 72 strikeouts and holding opponents to batting .221.

Head coach Angie Shrader said Rausch is pitching very well, since her appearance at the tournament this weekend, and Bohr is only helping with the success.

“[Rausch] is pitching extremely well right now, and both her and Maddie [Bohr] have way more strikeouts than they do giving up walks, and for [Rausch] to pitch two games and two shut-out games is awesome,” Shrader said.

West Branch is hitting .340 at the plate and their pitchers have 64 strikeouts on the season.

Shrader said her girls need to make sure they come into the game level headed.

“We’re going in with the confidence that we have, the kids have won right or nine in a row now, and are ranked 10th in the state, and that shouldn’t be a factor we tell them that rankings don’t matter because anyone can beat anyone on any given day,” Shrader said. “Hopefully we’re well rested and healed up that we can go in and play one game of softball get back on track, we’ve had couple days off and get ready softball again.”

Grace Redlinger is a game time decision, but according to Shrader may only play the field or bat depending on if she plays at all.
