No. 11 Washington Softball splits with No. 4 Keokuk, host Oskaloosa tonight

In a tale of two completely opposite games, the No. 11 Washington Demon Softball team split a doubleheader with No. 4 Keokuk last night.

While the first game featured big bats and a lot of runners in Keokuk’s 18-11 marathon win over Washington, defense and pitching prevailed in the second game which the Demons won 3-2.

Head coach Angie Shrader said that the win was big in the rankings and the conference, and that she was proud that her girls never gave up in either game.

Shrader also said her girls played as though they had nothing to lose in the second game, as no one expected No. 11 Washington to beat No. 4 Keokuk.

The Demons turn around quickly to host Oskaloosa tonight. Oskaloosa lost their first two games, but has since won nine straight since. They are hitting .356 as a team and their pitching staff has a combined ERA of 3.03 with 46 strikeouts.
