Primaries were held yesterday and the candidates for this fall’s elections were decided. In Keokuk County, Democrat Jeff Shipley was upset by Ron George, with George receiving 56 percent of the votes. In that same race, Casey J. Hinnah receives the nomination, beating out two other candidates with 67 percent of the registered Republican’s votes in Keokuk County. Also with six Republican candidates vying for County Supervisor in Henry County, two candidates were chosen, Greg Moeller and Gary See.

A close race in Iowa County was for US Representative District 1 race between Republicans Ben Lange and Rod Blum. Lange took the nomination with 51% of the votes. These results will be unofficial until it is approved by the Canvassing Board in each county.
