Washington County Relay for Life held two events over the weekend raising funds in the fight against cancer.
The first event was Friday evening where more than 90 participants took part in the sixth annual 5K/10K run and 1mile walk/run. KCII was at the race festivities playing music and announcing the start of the race with the Big Red Radio.
On Saturday, the twelfth annual Relay for Life took place on the Washington Square. One participant, Felicia Letchee came from Washington, DC to take part. She says she comes to Washington to support friends and family members.
During the twelve-hour event, there were several themed laps, team award announcements, entertainment, and guest speakers. The over $101,000 raised will help in cancer research as well as providing cancer patients and their families with free housing and transportation to and from treatments.
