The National Climatic Data Center has released the most recent information regarding drought conditions and Washington County is still experiencing very dry conditions.  When comparing to last week’s information, we are seeing very little relief from the abnormally to moderately dry conditions.  The combination of the dry summer, mild winter and the amount of rainfall received in the last few weeks are causing these conditions.

The eastern half of the county along with Louisa and Henry Counties are still faring better because of the larger amount of rain received the beginning of last month.

The information also takes current topsoil moisture levels based on the previous 50 years into consideration when making the determination of how dry the ground is.
