A key match up in the Cedar Valley Conference softball race takes place tonight in Kalona when #2 Mid-Prairie welcomes #5 Wilton. The Golden Hawks have rebounded from an 0-3 start to win six of their last eight including victories over class 4A Davenport Assumption, Pleasant Valley, and Cedar Rapids Prairie. Wilton enters play tonight with a 9-1 record and a perfect 4-0 conference mark. The Golden Hawks 1-1 in the CVC. Coach Justin Lutjen talked about what Wilton brings to the table in this match up

“They’ve lost some great players but they can swing the bat, those girls can swing the bat,” Lutjen said. “We’ve got to score runs, I have to assume that as great as Olivia will be , and the way they swing it they’re going to put up a few runs, we’re going to have to hit the ball, we’re going to have to have productive outs, we can’t strike out, we can’t pop out, we have to move runners along. We’ve got to get started right way, we can’t wait until the third, or fourth or fifth inning.”
