With no call for a vote at the City Council meeting, water and sewer rates will increase in the City of Wapello.

Mike Delzell, City Clerk and Public Works Director, says that the ordinance that automatically raises rates for water and sewer has been in affect for four years and has happened all but one of those years when the Council made a motion against the increase. At last weeks City Council meeting no one objected or called for a vote, so the 4% increase will take effect July 1st.

Delzell shares that the increase for water will raise an extra 5,000 dollars, while the sewer increase will raise an extra 12,000 a year.
