The dates of when the Washington Chamber of Commerce plans events can be difficult based off other events taking place that can affect the community.  Michelle Peiffer with the Chamber explains that when planning events, the Chamber will look at the entire year to see if other events are going on to avoid any potential conflicts.

She says one such challenge was with the Annual Craft Fair. A new date of Saturday, September 15th was chosen for the Craft Fair to allow more people to participate since the previous week is the Iowa-Iowa State football game being played in Iowa City.

Peiffer adds weather can cause challenges in trying to schedule events as well.  She says participation and comments left after events have finished also add to when events take place in following years.
