The City of Columbus Junction has filled its vacant police officer position. The decision was made at this weeks City Council meeting to hire a current part timer with the police department, Jack Bierman.
The hiring came after he was recommended by the department. He’ll start on the 22nd of this month. City Clerk Julie Heindal notes that he is already certified and will not need to go to the police academy .
The vacancy was created when one of their officers left to work at the Muscatine Police Department.
