Demons Split with Xavier, Conference Champions

It was a waiting game that lead the Demon’s softball team to split two games out of conference, but those two games were not as much on their minds as Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield playing for pride and for a conference championship.

With the Demons at Cedar Rapids Xavier, they would need to get text or phone call updates telling them what was happening as they played a non-conference game in Cedar Rapids.

Washington went in and got the win in the first game, and so did Mt. Pleasant, giving the Demons a guaranteed co-conference championship if Fairfield won the second game, but Mt. Pleasant wasn’t done. The Demons took the first game from Xavier, but lost the second one 10-0, but during that game, Mt. Pleasant was doing something that no team in the Southeast Iowa Conference could do.

The Panthers completed the sweep of Fairfield, making the Washington Demons the sole Conference champions
