It’s a rebuilding process. When Head Coach Ryan Koller took over the Mid-Prairie baseball team prior to the 2011 season it was evident there was a rebuilding process ahead. Following an 8-24 season Mid-Prairie was looking to bounce back this season. The Golden Hawks started the year 3-7 but have righted the ship over the final 20 games. Mid-Prairie stands at 20-16 entering the postseason, winners of 11 of their last 14 games, averaging eight runs per game during that stretch and an improved fielding percentage. The opponent tonight for the Golden Hawks is 16-11 Cardinal of Eldon, member of the Southeast Iowa Superconference South Division. The Comets have won 7 of 10 on the strength of senior Ty Short who is hitting .430 at the plate and on the hill has an ERA of 2.70 with a team best 6-1 record. You can hear all of the action between the Golden Hawks and the Comets in the first round of district play tonight on KCII radio.com with pregame at 6:45 and first pitch at 7PM live from Eddyville.
