A hunter safety class is being offered by the Washington County Conservation Board later this month.  Ranger Bob Bellmer at the Conservation Education Center in Marr Park says per Iowa law, anyone born after January 1, 1972 has to be certified in hunter education before they can buy an Iowa hunting license.  Bellmer adds anyone who is 11 years old and older can participate however the certificate of completion is not valid until the youth hunter’s 12th birthday.

He says the three sessions are being held Tuesday, July 31st and Thursday, August 2nd from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday, August 4th from 8:00 to noon.  Attendance is required at all three sessions.

This is the only class being offered by the Washington County Conservation Board for the fall and pre-registration is required.  For more information, contact the Conservation Education Center at 319-657-2400 or Bob Bellmer at 319-461-0341.
