Despite the current drought conditions and an increase in usage, the City of Kalona doesn’t see the need for water conservation measures.

City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh shares that the three wells in the city are keeping up with demand. He notes that usage is at 400,000 gallons a day, up 20% from normal.

The lowest water level the city reaches is 33%, but Schlabaugh says that the supply builds backup overnight. Schlabaugh adds that during his time with the city, conservation measures have never been necessary.
