The City of Washington has started the first part of their sewer cleaning.  City Administrator Brent Hinson says Hydro Klean Sewer Cleaning Company of Des Moines has been contracted to clean the sewers for maintenance and televising.  The televising is to view the progress of the cleaning.

Crews are currently working in the northwest quadrant of the city and should be completed by next week.

Hinson notes the cleaning might cause dry sewer traps or could cause sewer gas smells in homes and buildings.  The city maintenance department recommends placing water down the floor drains if any gas smells are detected.
