The WMU/WACO boy’s baseball team grabbed three spots on the All Southeast Iowa Superconference team this year, taking two spots at utility.
Derek Spencer, Eric Spencer, Andrew Roller and Skyler Davis all made the list.
Derek Spencer was the catcher for WMU/WACO. He hit .348 and 11 RBI’s, and his fielding percentage was a .944.
Head coach Mark Begey said Derek was a smart ball player that also called a good game behind home plate.
“Really intelligent kid, has been around the game of baseball, he has been on team that has gone to state and the equivalent of a district final,” Begey said. “Just a really good kid, called a good game behind the plate and just really knowledgeable about the game.”
His brother Eric was second team utility, right behind Derek. He hit .372 with two triples and five doubles.
Begey added that the entire varsity team earned letters this year, and will have nine letter winners returning to the lineup next year.
