The state fire marshal has issued a ban on all open burning in Henry County until further notice. The Henry County Sheriff’s office reports County Fire Chief Walt Jackson requested the state fire marshal prohibit any open burning in the county. This request is a result of hot and dry weather in the region, and is intended to combat the dangers of burning in those conditions.
The ban is in effect until Fire Department officials say it’s safe to burn openly in Henry County. State Fire Marshal Raymond Reynolds says a violation of the ban is a misdemeanor offense.
