A resident of Washington has received a medal in a recent bike competition in Clear Lake.  Richard Gilmore of Washington tells KCII News he participated in the Iowa State Criterium in which riders travel on a track that is approximately eight‑tenths of a mile in length for 35 minutes.

Gilmore says the goal is to have at least one team member receive a medal.  He adds one of his teammates received gold while he received bronze.

Gilmore says Alijah Beatty from Washington placed second in the 13-14 age division.  He notes there are national bike competitions however he prefers to not take part in those but to promote Iowa races.
