In a follow up to a story previously reported on KCII, with an area thrift store no longer accepting working televisions, some may be left wondering what to do with their old sets.  According to Southeast Iowa Multi-County Solid Waste Agency (SEMCO) located near Richland, they accept electronic waste.

This is considered any broken or unwanted electrical or electronic appliance – including computers, monitors and televisions.

Recycling these items reduces the amount of hazardous materials such as lead, cadmium and polyvinyl chloride plastics (PVC) from entering the environment.  The prices vary depending on the item, and to find out more, contact SEMCO Landfill at 319-456-6171.
