IMS will start their volleyball season off tonight by going to the Fairfield tournament.
They will play Fairfield and Eddyville-Blakesburg at the tournament.
Fairfield was the Southeast conference champions last year with a perfect 8-0 record in the conference and 28-10 overall record. Fairfield also played IMS last year at this tournament and beat them 2-0.
Eddyville-Blakesburg finished their season last year with a 19-17 record, but also beat IMS at this tournament last year 2-0.
Both schools are in a higher class than IMS, and that is what head coach Cindy Miller says she likes about the tournament because her team gets tough competition early on.
“They’re larger schools for us, and that’s always a little tougher, but it is good for us because we have harder teams to deal with,” Miller said. “It’s good too see where we are going, last year I had some girls really step up on serving and after that [tournament] we made some changes to our lineup to just tweak things, so we’ll be doing that to make sure everyone is in the right position and to just get the nerves out.”
IMS travels to Fairfield tonight with the first match at 5:45.
