Information was recently shared with elected city officials on the process of trying to attract an annual bike ride. Michelle Peiffer from the Washington Chamber of Commerce says the process of attracting RAGBRAI takes quite a bit of work. She says the local cities have to apply to the RAGBRAI committee to be considered either as a pass-through or overnight town.
Peiffer notes whatever designation Washington receives, being chosen is a way to welcome people who have never been to Washington before and it would have a major impact.
She says events like RAGBRAI pull all the smaller communities in the county together to host venues that wouldn’t normally come to Washington.
